Ignacio is making breakfast. Hilda says she cannot stay, she has to go to the cemetery to do scratch-off lottery tickets with Santos. Justin says he is going to be with his friends. Ignacio asks, “the drama club?” Justin says the Drama Club is lame. Justin presents something for Hilda to sign, which she does without question. After he leaves, Ignacio asks Hilda what it was, she didn’t know.

Justin walks out, his friends (including “the girlfriend”) are there. He tells him his mother just gave him an excuse note to miss the field trip tomorrow. They decide to take Hilda’s car. The girl is impressed.

Betty tells Daniel that Bradford wants to have Dinner with Wilhelmina, Alexis, and him. They then walk into a staff meeting. Henry is there. They are discussing the “advertising situation. Betty is trying to get everyone to swap chairs so she doesn’t have to sit next to Henry. She was not successful. Wilhelmina tells the group that 54% of their advertisers have pulled out. Henry says Mode will be out of business in 90 days.

Claire is drinking. She tells Yoga she doesn’t want to go overseas. She says she’ll turn herself in.

Christina is doing “measurements” on a hunky underwear model, while discussing the Henry situation with Betty. She convinces Betty to try online dating. There is this wonderful exchange:

“Christina, what are you doing? You can’t alter underwear!”

“Oh, they never catch on…”

Christina is going to put Betty’s profile on bachelocity.com (Yes, Disney owns this domain, too). Betty says, “I’m not that desperate”. We hear Henry’s voice saying, “You’re a little desperate…” Betty looks up, and Henry’s head is on the model’s body! (It might really be his body, I don’t know). She looks again, and it’s the model again.

Betty fills out her profile while Christina attempts to take her picture. Her photos keep turning out bad. Amanda barges in, and gives her advice on how to look better, including getting rid of the glasses. She says, “guys don’t make passes at girls who are fat”. She returns a shoe box to Christina, which has a sandwich in it. Amanda had hoped that Christina wouldn’t notice, she leaves to get the shoes.

As Christina takes Betty’s picture again, Betty is so pleased with the sandwich, she exclaims, “Ah! Ham!” At this time, Christina takes her picture, and it turns out great.

Wilhelmina tells Marc that her plan to ruin the company is going well, and tells him he can supervise the Valentino shoot. Marc wonders if that is part of her plan to ruin Mode. But he goes anyway. As he walks onto the shoot, Cliff, the photographer, who is kind of portly and a slog, says “You’re late, take off your clothes…” mistaking him for a model. Marc then shows his modeling prowess by slapping his own butt too hard. This makes Cliff giggle. The REAL model, who is not the brightest bulb, put the underwear on backward. Marc goes to “help” him.

The photo shoot was based on “Rear Window”, which Marc had never seen. Nor had he seen Psycho, which Cliff invited him to come over and see, after getting drinks. Amanda barges in and tells Marc that Betty is internet dating, and that they must go “Mock”. Marc says it will have to wait, he is going to ask out the underwear guy.

Ignacio comes back to the house, and three old ladies are there: Hilda’s new friends from the cemetery. They are making a quilt from their dead husband’s shirts.

Wilhelmina makes crazy suggestions to save money now that the magazine is losing money. She suggests printing on rice paper and using soy ink. She also suggests giving out free detergent samples.

Kenny comes to get Daniel’s signature, and talks to Betty. Betty gives Kenny her time card, because she doesn’t want to go to the accounting department. He speaks a bunch of gibberish. Betty tells him, “You’re from Greenwich. Stop frontin’ ” He replies, “South side, yo!” He tells Christian (about Betty), “Tell your girl to throw my man a Betty Bone!”.

Betty’s gotten 15 replies to her dating profile, all but one were jokes form Amanda. But one guy asks her out bowling. She replies, accidentally, “Yes, I love blowing”.

Hilda is still hanging out with the cemetery ladies, they are separating pills and ironing money. While they are talking about things they want to write angry letters about, Justin sneaks in and takes Hilda’s car keys. Ignacio finally tells Hilda that she has to stop hanging out with the old ladies. She explains that the women know what she’s going through. Ignacio says he does, too, but life has to go on.

Daniel shows Betty a prototype of the “new” Mode, she tells him it’s not very good. She says he should keep Mode the way it is, and ak her father for money. Of course, Daniel doesn’t want to do this. He notices Betty is wearing her lucky sweater. Betty tells him about her bowling date.

Claire is going through her friend’s mail, and sees an invitation to Bradford’s wedding. Later, she is gone, and Yoga notices one of the display guns is missing from the rack.

Alexis walks up to Daniel. She shows him how the soy ink will not work – she gets it all over her Dolce top. She insists they ask their father for money. They decide she is the best one to do this. She was the “golden boy”. She says, “And this golden boy has to go wash ink off his boobs!” (funny)

Henry is working, Kenny comes in and gossips, telling him about Betty’s internet date. Cut to the bowling alley. Betty is checking her teeth in a bowling trophy when her dates walks up. He is obviously disappointed in her looks, but still polite. She is blathering on nervously, and he is trying to “hurry up” the date. She gets a call , and he excuses himself and goes to the bathroom. Christina is on the phone, but she has to leave to get a new message on the dating website. It turns out to be her husband. (Who she mentioned in the season 1 finale).

In the meantime, Betty is drying her underarms on the bowling hand dryers; the date sees this, and decides to leave without telling Betty. Ad he’s leaving, we see Henry, who had been crouching down, watching everything. Betty turns to see Henry there, he pretends to have been there for League night. Henry lies about why the guy left (his bird got the bird flu). Henry wants to bowl in the next lane, but then the alley announcing “couples bowl”. Everyone starts making out. Betty says, “Bowling sucks”, and they leave.

Marc tells Amanda he’s got a date with the underwear model (Amanda doesn’t believe him). Cliff walks in,and asks Marc if he wants to go to the Village after the movie. Marc tells him he can’t go, he asked out Gus the model. Cliff is disappointed, but Marc doesn’t get that Cliff thought they were going on a date. Then, he suddenly understands. He tries to apologise, Cliff at first blows it off, then tells Marc how upset he is that he didn’t think they had a “date” because of the way he looked. He says, “I thought there was more to you…”

Alexis and Daniel come over for dinner with Bradford and Wilhelmina. Alexis starts to have flashbacks. Outside, Claire is aiming a gun into the window at Wilhelmina. Wilhelmina gets them all together to take their holiday photo. Claire decides not to shoot Wilhelmina. She realises that Wilhelmina has brought her family back together – everything’s OK now. She tells Yoga she wants to go to Italy now.

Back at the Suarez house, Hilda is knitting while the cemetery girls are sleeping. As she’s checking one of them to see if she’s breathing, the police pull up. “Who died?” one of them asks. It turns out it’s a policewoman who knows Hilda, and she has brought Justin home. He had wrecked their car into a tree. This is when Hilda finally snaps out of it. She tells “the girls’ they have to leave, then has a heart-to-heart with Justin. First, she lays down the law, then tells him it’s OK to grieve. He tells her he just wanted his dad to be proud of him. They embrace and cry.

Alexis starts to tell Bradford about the lost advertisers, but Daniel interrupts her and tells him. Bradford starts yelling at Daniel. At this time, Alexis finally remembers everything, including when her father disowned her. She confesses to Alex that she had tried to kill her father. Daniel is very upset about this, and leaves.

Betty and Henry go to a restaurant; turns out it’s a romantic restaurant. A strolling violinist comes by, they try to tell him they are just friends. “He got another girl pregnant”, Betty says. A woman walks up with roses “for the pretty lady” – the violinist tells her “he got another girl pregnant”. Betty starts to leave. Henry had dropped his fork, he was on his knees as he grabbed her hand and asked her to wait. The other patrons mistakenly thought this meant he was proposing. Betty says, “I can’t do this”, then walks away.

Marc is in Cliff’s apartment. They start the movie. Marc asks, “What if I get scared?” Cliff tells him he’ll be there to hold his hand, which he does.

Betty is walking home, she gets a cell call. It’s Henry, but he’s actually right behind her. They argue. Henry asks her if she wants him to leave Mode. She says yes. He says he’ll give his notice on Monday. She goes inside. She then comes back out and says, “There is another option”, then kisses him, as “As Time Goes By” plays in the background. She says she knows her heart will break, but maybe it’s worth it.

The episode begins in an auditorium, an emo guy is reading his love story. Betty is crying, impressed, and starts to cheer as he finishes. Everyone in the class looks at her like she’s crazy. The teacher asks Betty what she liked about the piece (mockingly). Betty replies that it was sweet, and that she felt his pain. The teacher says “This is what I felt”, and runs his nails down the chalkboard. He then goes on a tirade about “finding your voice” and opening old wounds. “If you have nothing to write, try killing yourself”, he says. He assigns a 1000 word essay on “Your most defining moment”.

Ignacio is preparing breakfast, and tells Betty her story was great. She tells of her plans to get published, get promoted to editor, then run her own magazine. Betty tells her dad that she had sent her story to Daniel for evaluation. Justin walks in the room, dressed in a leather jacket and with a snarly attitude. He tells Betty he flunked his math test, and doesn’t care. Hilda defends him.

At Mode, Daniel is arriving with Alexis. She has too much makeup on, and is wearing her top very low-cut without a bra. She is having trouble walking in heels. Amanda sees her and says “Honey, No, No, no! Ladies room, now! Friends don’t let friends wear glitter before noon.”

Henry is listening to Kenny’s new rap recording. Kenny is the accountant in the next cubicle, who has a “street” attitude. Kenny sees Betty and reminds Henry that he has Betty her, and a babymomma back home. “Teach me young Skywalker”, he says.

Betty asks Henry to tutor Justin in Algebra. He agrees.

Marc sneaks into the love dungeon, Amanda is there with Halston the ugly dog. Amanda has been having no luck at all in the search for her birth father. Marc suggests she look at old episodes of Mode, which always had pictures of Fey at various parties – to see which men she socialised with at the time

Wilhelmina is leading a staff meeting. Daniel and Alexis walk in. Wilhelmina continues, but Daniel asks her to move so Alexis can sit down. Wilhelmina obviously feels disrespected. But she reminds everyone that she is leaving mode to run Meade publications, and the Meade family. Wilhelmina comes to talk to Bradford about her future. He tells her he can run any magazine she likes, but Mode (Claire owns that).

Back at the staff meeting, Sheila says they may have lost Wynona Ryder (for the cover) to a movie. They weren’t sure if she’s making one or just going to see one. Alexis suggests Anna Nichole Smith. Daniel later finds her crying (her face is streaked with mascara). Daniel consoles her, and reminds her she’s in the men’s room.

Daniel gives Betty a group of female empowerment articles – he’s too busy with a hot date. He tells Betty that he read her story and loved it. He gives her a thumbs up. Betty tells Christina that this means he hates it. Betty explains that whenever Daniel does this, he’s lying. They then flashback to several scenes of Daniel giving the thumbs up: telling Amanda he would “call her later”, telling his dad he read the “Quarterly Competitive Analysis”, telling a dominatrix he was “ready”.

Back at the writing class. The teacher is ripping into everyone’s writing. He looks at Betty and says, “you’re up, crappy!” Betty drops her purse and everything spills out. She starts reading, and reads a line about her own blood dripping off a bear’s teeth. Betty realises she’s reading one of the female empowerment stories (this one by Marsha Worthington), instead of her own. The teacher tells her to go on, he’s actually interested. Betty has a decision to make: she continues reading the bear attack story, claiming it as her own.

Henry is trying to teach Justin algebra using fashion flash cards. Justin is bored with it. He ends the session early.

Betty finishes “her” story with a line about being pregnant with her first child. The class loves Betty’s story, so does the teacher. He asks the class: why can’t the rest of you get attacked by a bear?

Betty is in her bed, tossing and turning. Poquito, her teddy bear, starts chiding her about how she cheated. He then attacks her (it was a dream).

Wilhelmina meets all the other editors of all the other magazines in Meade publications: including an extreme sports magazine, a cooking magazine, and a men’s magazine. She doesn’t like any of them. She tells Marc that her plan has fallen apart. “I was a simple girl with an evil plan”. Marc rolls on the floor saying “We’re doomed!”

Betty is feeling guilty, she cannot even look her pink bunny in the one good eye. Professor Barrett calls and says he wants to see her about her essay. He tells her he’s sent her article to the New York Review. Betty tries to back out, but can’t.

Luke, who owns Atlantic Attire, is speaking to Daniel about the upcoming advertising spread. He tells Daniel that he wants him to fire Alexis. He is worries about the image of advertising in a magazine “run by a cross-dresser”. Daniel tells Alexis about this, and of course Alexis is hurt. She has a meltdown. She also says she is tired of high heels, and throws one, which hits Marc square on the forehead.

Amanda is looking through old magazines. Halston paws at one, she looks at it and sees an article about Fey and her assistant “Wanda” at studio 54. She feed the photo into Photoshop, does some editing, and discovers that it is Wilhelmina. “Ugly Willie”,as she says. Wilhelmina hears this and confronts her.

The man at the New York Review tells Betty he can’t believe she’s turning down their offer to publish her story. The legal department calls and says they need him to check the story by checking her ear. Betty says she can’t publish the story in their magazine because she works for Mode. As she’s leaving, the editor says, “You’re carrying low – it’s going to be a boy”

Wilhelmina threatens Amanda. Amanda swears she’ll never mention it again. Se says she’s just trying to find her father. Wilhelmina tells her about April 26, 1981 at Studio 54. Fey got lost in the crowd, then “Wanda” found her in a tryst, the only thing she saw about the man was the Tweety Bird tattoo on his behind. Amanda is pleased that she was conceived at Studio 54. Wilhelmina tells how, in exchange for her secrecy about the pregnancy, Fey paid for her transformation into Wilhelmina, supermodel. She then says, to herself, “If I can’t have Mode, no one else can.”

Wilhelmina advises Daniel to lose the account with Luke. He proceeds to tell Luke to get lost.

Henry tells Betty that he sucked as a tutor, but is not giving up. She then walks to her desk; a woman is sitting there. She says, “I hear we have a lot in common”, and pulls her hair back to reveal a mangled ear. The woman had gotten a call from her agent telling her that her story ended up at the New York review with Betty’s name on it. As she’s trying to explain, Daniel walks in. He tells the woman the mix-up was his fault, and offers to publish her story at double the normal rate.

Henry comes to tutor Justin and finds him making out with a girl and drinking beer.

Daniel and Betty take turns giving each other pep talks. They have a very sweet, platonic moment.

Wilhelmina gives Amanda the guest list at Studio 54 for the night Amanda was conceived.

Daniel is in the men’s room doing his at a urinal – Alexis comes in and hugs him. She thanks him for standing up for her. At this time, Daniel confesses that he caused the accident. Alexis is understanding, and hugs him.

Amanda says “Hi, Daddy!”, and looks at a picture of Ted Kennedy, then a photo of Warren Beatty, and Ricardo Montalban. She has a whole wall full of photos of men who were cool in the early 80’s.

Marc tells Wilhelmina that all of Mode’s advertisers are thinking about pulling their ads, no that they’ve heard about Atlantic Attire doing so. He gathers that Wilhelmina was the one who spread the rumour. He tells her “Oh, My God! The botox has finally seeped into your brain!” Wilhelmina reveals that she’s trying to destroy Mode so she can start a new magazine: Slater.

Henry is freaking out over Justin’s behavior. Betty tells him to calm down. She asks him why he’s getting so worked up: he reveals it’s because he’s going to be a father. He had known the results from the paternity tests, but didn’t want to tell Betty because he still wanted to be together. She tells him to leave.

Betty reads her story to the class, her real story. The other students laugh. The emo guy looks at her approvingly.

Note: I didn’t see a bagel in this episode. I’ll watch again tomorrow, just to make sure.

Grinsen und ertragen

Die Episode beginnt in ein Auditorium, ein emo Mann liest seine Liebesgeschichte. Betty weint, beeindruckt, und fängt an zu jubeln, als er fertig ist. Jeder in der Klasse sieht sie, wie sie ist verrückt. Die Lehrerin fragt Betty, was sie gerne über das Stück (spöttisch). Betty entgegnet, dass sie süß war, und sie fühlte seinen Schmerz. Die Lehrerin sagt: “Das ist, was ich” gefühlt, und führt seine Nägel Festlegung der Tafel. Er geht dann auf eine Tirade über “finden Sie Ihre Stimme” und zur Eröffnung der alte Wunden. “Wenn man nichts zu schreiben haben, versuchen, dich umzubringen”, sagt er. Er weist ein 1000 Wort Essay über “Ihre wichtigste Moment”.

Ignacio bereitet Frühstück, Betty und erzählt ihre Geschichte war groß. Sie erzählt über ihre Pläne zur Veröffentlichung erhalten, erhalten an den Redakteur gefördert, dann führen Sie ihr eigenes Magazin. Henry ist das Anhören neuer rap Kenny’s Aufnahme. Kenny ist der Buchhalter in den nächsten Schrank, der eine “Straße” Einstellung hat. Kenny sieht Betty und erinnert Henry, dass er Betty hat sie, und ein babymomma wieder nach Hause. “Teach me jungen Skywalker”, sagt er.

Betty fragt Henry Justin in der Algebra Tutor. Er ist damit einverstanden.

Marc schleicht sich in die Liebe Kerker, ist Amanda Halston dort mit den hässlichen Hund. Amanda wurde deshalb keinen Erfolg, überhaupt bei der Suche nach ihrer Geburt Vater. Marc schlägt sie aus den alten Folgen von Mode, die schon immer Bilder von Fey auf den verschiedenen Parteien – auf die Männer, die sie sozialisiert mit der Zeit zu sehen

Wilhelmina ist ein führender Mitarbeiter Sitzung. Daniel und Alexis gehen hinein Wilhelmina geht weiter, aber Daniel bittet sie, so bewegen Alexis kann sich hinsetzen. Wilhelmina fühlt sich offenbar missachtet. Aber sie erinnert alle daran, dass sie Modus Meade Publikationen laufen lassen, und die Meade Familie. Betty hat eine Entscheidung zu treffen: liest sie weiter die Angriffe von Bären Geschichte und behauptete, es als ihre eigenen.

Henry versucht, Justin Algebra mit Mode-Flash-Karten zu unterrichten. Justin ist mit ihr zu langweilen. Er beendet die Sitzung früh.

Betty beendet “ihre” Geschichte mit einer Linie darum, mit ihrem ersten Kind schwanger. Die Klasse liebt Betty’s Geschichte, so auch der Lehrer. Er fragt die Klasse: Warum nicht den Rest bekommen Sie von einem Bären angegriffen wird?

Betty in ihrem Bett, Drehen und Wenden. Poquito, ihre Teddybären, Schelten beginnt ihr, wie sie betrogen. Er greift dann ihr (es war ein Traum).

Wilhelmina erfüllt alle anderen Editoren aller anderen Zeitschriften in Meade Publikationen: ua ein Extremsport-Magazin, ein Koch-Magazin, und ein Magazin für Männer. Sie weiß nicht, wie einer von ihnen. Sie sagt Marc, dass ihr Plan auseinander gefallen ist. “Ich war ein einfaches Mädchen mit einem bösen Plan”. Marc Rollen auf dem Boden: “Wir sind verloren!”

Betty ist schuldig fühlen, können sie nicht einmal ihr rosa Kaninchen in der ein gutes Auge. Professor Barrett nennt und sagt, er will sie zu ihrem Essay zu sehen. Er sagt ihr, schickte er ist ihr Artikel der New York Review. Betty versucht, wieder heraus, aber nicht kann.

Henry sagt, dass er Betty gesaugt als Nachhilfelehrer, ist aber nicht aufzugeben. Sie geht dann an ihren Schreibtisch, eine Frau sitzt da. Sie sagt: “Ich höre, wir haben viel gemeinsam”, und zieht das Haar wieder zu einem verstümmelten Ohr zu offenbaren. Die Frau hatte einen Anruf von ihrem Agenten bekommen ihr zu sagen, dass ihre Geschichte bis zu Ende an der New York Review mit dem Namen Betty’s drauf. Als sie versucht zu erklären, Spaziergänge, Daniel in. Er erzählt die Frau The Mix-Up war seine Schuld, und bietet ihre Geschichte auf das Doppelte des normalen veröffentlichen.

Henry kommt Justin Tutor und findet ihn die Ausfertigung der mit einem Mädchen und Bier trinken.

Daniel und Betty abwechselnd geben einander Pep Talks. Sie haben eine sehr süße, platonische Moment.

Amanda Wilhelmina gibt die Liste der Gäste im Studio 54 für die Nacht Amanda konzipiert wurde.

Daniel ist in der Herrentoilette tut sein bei einem Urinal – Alexis kommt herein und umarmt ihn. Sie dankt ihm für das Eintreten für sie. Zu dieser Zeit, gesteht Daniel, dass er den Unfall verursacht hat. Alexis ist das Verständnis, und umarmt ihn.

Amanda sagt “Hallo, Papa!”, Und sieht ein Bild von Ted Kennedy, dann ein Foto von Warren Beatty, und Ricardo Montalban. Sie hat eine ganze Wand voller Fotos von Männern, die in den frühen 80er Jahren waren cool.

Das Botox ist endlich sickerte in your brain! “Wilhelmina zeigt, dass sie versucht zu Mode zu zerstören, damit sie ein neues Magazin kann es losgehen: Slater.

Henry rastet über Verhalten Justin’s. Betty erzählt ihm, sich zu beruhigen. Sie fragt ihn, warum er sich so aufgeregt, er zeigt es daran, dass er geht, Vater zu sein.
